Hot Property- An Entertainer S Dream Home

An ideal home for entertaining guests of all ages

Take a look inside — and outside — this spectacular New England home that was custom built in 2003 by Hobbs, a luxury home builder. The New Canaan home not far from the Darien line is an example of sophistication and elegant craftsmanship.

Homeowner Anne-Lie Sjorn is downsizing and moving to another part of town, but she will forever remember the 13 years she lived in the 7,993-square-foot home.

“What I loved most is that it has many different entertaining areas,” Sjorn said. “My kids always had friends over. It was just lovely, and who can beat the creek running through it?”

The lower level of the house, which sits on 4.33 acres, is perfect for entertaining.

“It does not have a basement feeling because it has full-size windows and it opens to the pool area in the back,” Sjorn said.

The lower level features antique bricks and a wine cellar that can hold about 1,500 bottles of wine, she said. It also has a guest bedroom with a full bath.

Then there are the two game rooms.

“One is more traditional with a bar and TV, pool area and seating area,” Sjorn said. “It’s more of a grown up playroom.” The second playroom — aimed at the teenage residents — has a golf simulator, among other amenities.

The lower level also includes a nice-sized fitness center, a washer and dryer, a refrigerator, a storage room and a sauna that opens to the pool.

The entryway on the first level leads into the dining room and living room, which both have built-ins and fireplaces. In total, five fireplaces are located within the house.

The kitchen has stainless steel appliances, a Sub-Zero refrigerator, granite countertops and a breakfast area with a gas fireplace. A butler’s pantry near the kitchen, which leads into the dining room, has a dishwasher and a small office, which Sjorn nicknamed as the “command center.”

The first level also includes a mudroom, a powder room, a three-car garage and 25-foot vaulted, beamed ceilings.

The second level has four guest rooms as well as the master suite with a fireplace and his-and-her dressing rooms. The guest bedrooms all have full walk-in closets and a full bath. A laundry room and a television area for children are also located on the second level.

This home is surrounded by covered porches and terraces overlooking sweeping lawns, an infinity pool with a spa, a waterfall, a river and a unique, one-ofa- kind tree house. The tree-house, Sjorn said, comes complete with a television, refrigerator and microwave.
